Step into Sport            SiS

Step into Sport
is part of the Governments PE and Sport Strategy for Young People. Step into Sport targets 11-19 year olds by providing a simple framework of co-ordinated
opportunities at a local level, to enable young people to begin and sustain an involvement in leadership and volunteering in sport. The principles of Step into Sport are to develop leadership through sport and leadership in sport. Sport relies on 1.5 million volunteer officials, coaches, administrators and managers and the Youth Sport Trust plays a major role in supporting their development. It's a great way for young people aged 11 to 19 to get trained as sports leaders and then contribute to their local community by volunteering to help at a quality local sports club.

Step into Sport Volunteer Passport

The Volunteer Passport is a new website where young people (aged 14-19) can record their hours online  to gain nationally recognised volunteering certificates:

  • Bronze award - 50 hours
  • Silver award - 100 hours
  • Gold award - 200 hours

Please click here to find out more.

After assemlies and drop-in sessions at all of the high schools across Cannock and Rugeley, there are now over 90 pupils who are signed up to the online passport and have created their unique Step into Sport accounts. Several pupils have achieved their Bronze and/or Silver awards and will be receiving their certificates very soon, well done! Congratulations to all of you who are volunteering in primary and secondary schools, sports clubs and other settings, you are a credit to your community. Remember to keep logging your hours online.
